product description
1、 BENTLY 3500/04 138257-01 module
This is the internal barrier grounding I/O module of the Bentley Nevada 3500 series, which belongs to the intrinsic safety interface component and provides explosion-proof protection for sensor systems in hazardous areas. It is compatible with the 3500 mechanical protection system and requires a dedicated I/O slot in the rack. The market reference price ranges from about 80 yuan to 8699 yuan, and the price varies greatly depending on the source of goods from different channels.
2、 135489-02 module
This model is a Modbus RS-232/422 communication gateway I/O module of the 3500/42 series, with a communication response time of less than 0.5 seconds in 3-byte timeout scenarios. It supports long-distance communication wiring up to 1220 meters and is suitable for host data exchange requirements in industrial scenarios.
3、 135489-03 module
This model is an internal barrier supporting component of the 3500 system, which belongs to the intrinsic safety interface component. It can be directly connected to the 3500 mechanical protection system, providing explosion-proof protection for various sensors in hazardous areas. It is fully compatible with the entire 3500 series of equipment and can meet North American and international safety standards without the need for additional external barriers.

Selection and usage precautions
Compatibility verification: 135489 series modules cannot be blindly replaced. It is necessary to verify the wiring definition and explosion-proof certification requirements in advance to avoid signal mismatch.
Wiring specification: In the RS-232/422 communication scenario, standard PVC cables can be used directly within 150 meters, and RS-422 extension cables are required for distances exceeding 150 meters. The longest support for transmission is 1220 meters.
Rack occupancy rule: After installing the 3500/04 grounding module, the available monitor positions for a standard 19 inch rack will be reduced from 14 to 13, and the rack slot layout needs to be planned in advance.
Redundancy configuration suggestion: In critical unit scenarios, it can be used with 3500/42M monitors, and redundant modules can be configured to enhance system reliability and meet the mechanical protection requirements of API670 standard.

1、 General basic troubleshooting steps
Power supply voltage verification: Measure the sensor power supply voltage between the I/O module PWR and the COM terminal. The standard value should be -23.7 ± 0.5VDC. If it exceeds the range, priority should be given to troubleshooting the module power supply circuit.
Voltage detection of preamplifier: retest the – VT voltage at the preamplifier terminal. If the voltage is abnormal, disconnect the on-site VT line to distinguish whether the fault point is in the on-site wiring or the preamplifier body.
Gap voltage verification: Disconnect the OUT terminal signal line and measure the DC gap voltage between COM and OUT, which should fall within the OK voltage range of the corresponding eddy current sensor.
Cable resistance test: Measure the resistance of the inner and outer conductors of the probe and extension cable. The resistance value for a conventional 5m system should be within the range of 7.2 Ω± 0.9 Ω, and for a 9m system it should be 8.5 Ω± 1.2 Ω. If it exceeds this range, a cable fault is determined.
2、 Key points for special investigation by model
3500/04 138257-01 Grounding Barrier Module
Focus on checking the conductivity of the grounding terminal, which should be less than 1 Ω to avoid explosion-proof failure caused by poor grounding.
Check the insulation of the wiring on the hazardous area side to prevent mixing of intrinsic safety circuits with non intrinsic safety circuits.
135489-02 Communication Type I/O Module
Check the single ended grounding of the shielding layer of the RS-232/422 communication line to avoid communication packet loss during long-distance transmission.
Check the response delay in the 3-byte timeout scenario, which should be less than 0.5 seconds under normal circumstances. If the timeout occurs, restart the module and reset the configuration.
135489-03 speedometer barrier module
Check the wiring definitions of the speed sensors for each of the four channels one by one to avoid channel mismatches that may cause abnormal monitoring data.
Check the status of the OK indicator light on the front panel of the module. A constant light indicates normal operation, while a flashing light triggers a channel bypass alarm.
