TriconeX 4351B is a high-performance communication module produced by Triconex (now part of Emerson/Avis), with the full name Tricon Communication Module (TCM) 4351B. It is designed specifically for critical control and safety applications and serves as the core hub for reliable data exchange between internal and external devices in the Tricon safety control system.

1. Core functions and architecture
The third mock examination Redundancy (TMR) compatibility: The module design is perfectly compatible with the Triconex TMR architecture, ensuring that a single point of failure will not affect the overall system communication through the voting mechanism, and greatly improving the fault tolerance and safety reliability of the system.
High speed data transmission: As a bridge between the main processor, I/O module, HMI operation panel, and upper system, it supports real-time data transmission and system status synchronization.
Self diagnosis and alarm: Built in status monitoring and fault detection mechanism, can monitor the health of communication links in real time, automatically alarm and record the sequence of events when abnormal, making it easy for operators to handle in a timely manner.
2. Interface configuration and protocol support
Network ports (NET 1&NET 2): Equipped with two 10/100Mbps copper Ethernet (RJ-45) ports. Supports multiple protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, TSAA, TriStation, SNTP, and Jet Direct (network printing); Among them, NET 1 also supports Peer to Peer and Peer to Peer time synchronization protocols.

Alias Mapping: In order for standard Modbus devices to read or write data, an “alias” must be assigned to each Tricon variable in the TriStation software. This five digit number represents the Modbus message type and variable address.
Capacity limitation: A single Tricon system can support up to 32 Modbus master or slave stations (including the sum of network and serial ports).
4. Hardware specifications and maintenance precautions
System compatibility: Only compatible with Tricon v10.0 or higher versions of the system.
Installation and expansion: Adopting modular design, insert into slot 7 of the host rack (redundant configuration). A Tricon system can be configured with up to 4 TCMs, which must reside in two logical slots respectively. Different models of TCMs cannot be mixed.
Hot swappable feature: does not support hot standby function, but fortunately, faulty TCM modules can be directly replaced while the controller remains online.
